New development of the AHELoY oPM is the 40x46mm VD (volume detonating) grenade rounds for hand-operated and underbarrel grenade launchers.
The 40x46mm VD grenade rounds provide increased effectiveness of the blast effect in comparison with 40x46mm Serial HE up to 1,3 times on a surface and 2 times in closed premises against the bulletproof vest enemy.
The 40x46mm VD grenade rounds are intended to be fired form hand-operated grenade launchers and underbarrel grenade launchers used with 5,45mm and 5,56mm and 7,62mm assault rifles.
Being fired from grenade launchers of the M203 and HK 69A1 types the 40x46mm VD grenade rounds are capable to engage personnel with personal ballistic protection:
- in closed premises of the range of 250 m;
- located on the backside of the terrain obstacles in open fortifications;
- who are covered in unarmored military vehicles.
The 40x46mm VD grenade rounds are fitted with point detonating SQ action fuze ensuring grenade save distance-arming and self-destruction back-up.
